6th Water Loss Management Conference 2022

This event was the Sixth such Non-Revenue water Reduction that WASPA has organized. The Dialogue was comprised of four substantive sections covering an important facet of Water Loss management:

i). Promotion of Good practices in water loss management through AMI and related technologies,

ii). Innovative and optimized financing opportunities in the management of water losses,

iii). Leveraging Big Data and Information in the management of water losses,

iv). Innovations, technologies, and Markets opportunities for AMI in the management of water losses

The event’s main theme was Deployment of Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) in water loss management and the overall goal was to enable stakeholders to share good practices, deliberate on prevailing challenges, and formulate strategies to leverage AMI to accelerate the realization of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6. Participants in the Event, who came from National Government, County Governments, Water Sector institutions, technopreneurs, Financing institutions, manufacturers, academia, civil society as well as national and international agencies, sought:

(i)To create a platform to share experiences, identify barriers and good practices resulting from the deployment of Advanced Metering Infrastructure

(ii)To provide networking opportunities for innovative financing and partnerships for Advanced Metering Infrastructure in fast-tracking SDG 6,

(iii)To explore technologies, innovations, and markets opportunities for Advanced Metering

Infrastructure in accelerating the achievement of SDG 6,

(iv)To foster partnerships among training institutions, WSPs, Governments, and Technology Service Providers in building the capacity of utilities in the absorption of new technologies.

The discussions in each panel were lively with contributions from a wide range of participants. To set the pace for the conference, there were excursions to MOIBEN, Kipkorgot, and Kenya RE as part of the areas where advanced metering infrastructure has been deployed. The purpose of this report is to summarize the main points made during the 6th WASPA Water Loss Management Conference 2022.
