A delegation from Denmark led by the Danish Industry (DI) Global CEO Sørensen Lars Sandahl for a technical visit to Thika Water and Sewerage Company (THIWASCO) Head Offices and the utility. The Danish Government is injecting a colossal fund towards the improvement of the company’s water infrastructure, increasing their water and sanitation coverage. The delegation gained insight into the infrastructure required to provide clean water to the growing population. In the previous year, DI supported the training of water sector employees in a broad range of technical areas including plumbing, pipe fitting, and wastewater management at the Kenya Water Institute (KEWI) for six months. WASPA was allocated 38 slots. The 38 candidates drawn from various WSPs were admitted into the program in February 2023 with THIWASCO being one of the recipients. At least 144 students from KEWI were absorbed by WSPs for Industrial attachment during September 2023 and graduated in November.
