SKILLS COMPETITION

WASPA 1

The Water & Sanitation Providers Association (WASPA), in partnership with the Kenya
Water Institute (KEWI) and Women in Water Association (WIWAS) seeks applications
for the Water and Sanitation Skills Competition 2025.
Objective of the WATSAN Skills Competition

  • Encourage leading practices in water supply and sanitation service provision.
  • Strengthen technical expertise and professionalism among sector personnel.
  • Foster innovation and collaboration among WSPs.
  • Showcase sector achievements and motivating staff.
  • Enhance customer satisfaction by improving service quality.
    This initiative also aims to promote competency, innovation, and knowledge sharing
    among Water Service Providers (WSPs) in Kenya. The competition will test and
    recognize the skills of participants in key operational areas, ultimately enhancing
    competency and efficiency in service delivery and sector performance.

Target group: Water Services Providers and Learning Institutions. Each participating WSP
will nominate a team who will compete in the technician’s challenge to be held at the
Kenya Water Institute (Nairobi Campus) on 19th to 21st November 2025. Kshs. 50,000 per team.

How to participate

  1. This call has a total of 5 challenges.
    a) Challenge 1: Laying of the water distribution system with associated
    appurtenances.
    b) Challenge 2: Non-Revenue Water Management – Installation and testing of
    Water Meters (Bulk and Consumer Meters)
    c) Challenge 3: Water Quality – Testing water parameters
    d) Challenge 4: Sewered and Non-sewered Sanitation
    e) Challenge 5: First Aid
  2. Participation is in teams of not more than 3 persons.
  3. The Participants will undertake all five challenges
  4. The teams to come with their tools and equipment.
  5. Registration for the WATSAN 2025 skills competition is through the

Expected Outcomes

  • Enhanced skill sets and motivation among water and sanitation service providers.
  • Improved efficiency and service delivery in the water sector.
  • Increased recognition of the technical workforce in water and
    sanitation management.
  • Strengthened partnerships between WASPA, WSPs, and stakeholders.
